HS-spindle concentricity

Measurement of the dynamic spindle concentricity

The concentricity of a spindle determines the achievable precision of cutting. With increasing speed, the rotational behavior may differ significantly from the static case at low speed. Resonance regions of the spindle bearing system are crossed, which can lead to polygonal motions of the spindle shaft depending on the direction of vibration. The measurement of the dynamic concentricity is preferably carried out, without contact, using eddy current sensors in several directions simultaneously. In this case the axial displacement of the spindle, for example, can also be established in the warm-up process.

Examples of application

  • Dynamic concentricity of grinding spindles.
  • Dynamic concentricity of HSC-motor spindles.
